Дочитала Адлера. Цитирую себе на память то, что заложила по ходу чтения.

"We must look at things from the chilren's point of view if we want to know why they act as they do. The basic attitude connected with their point of view directs children in various ways. First, there is an optimistic attitude to life in which they can readily solve any problems they come across. Under these circumstances they will grow up with all the characteristics of individuals who consider the tasks of life easily within their power. In these cases we see the development of courage, openness, frankness, responsibility, hard work and so on. The opposite of this is the development of pessimism. Imagine the goal of children who are not confident of being able to solve their problems! How dismal the world must appear to such children! Here we find timidity, introspection, distrust and all those other characteristics and traits with which weaklings seek to defend themselves. Their goal will lie beyond their reach, but also far away from the front line where life's real battles are fought". (p. 33)

"We must be very modest, then, in our assessment of our fellow human beings, and above all we must never allow ourselves to make any moral judgements, judgements concerning the moral worth of human beings. On the contrary, we must use our knowledge for the good of society. We must approach mistaken and misguided people sympthetically, because we are in much better position then they are to understand what is going on inside them. Our insight gives rise to important new points of view in the matter of education. The very recognition of the source of error puts into our hands a great many influential instruments for improvement. By analysing the psychological structure and development of human beings we may not only understand their past, but also make an informed guess concerning their future. Thus our science gives us some conception of what human beings really are. They become living beings for us, not just cardboard cut-outs. In consequence we can have a richer and more meaningful sense of their worth as human beings than is usual nowadays." (p. 132)
Главное - не увлекаться.

"In reality individuals who are guilty of them have not much place in their personality for social feeling". (p.161)

"Imaginative empathy is demonstrated in our dreams where we fell as though some specific situation is actually occuring". (p.164) (?!)

"Being especially unlucky is one way of feeling important!" (p.210)

"Other sex - Adler's term for 'opposite sex', emphasizing that male and female are not opposite but complementary". (p.231)
