New Queen wow fans
(BANG) - Queen wowed fans last night (28.03.05) as they kicked off their first tour for 20 years with new singer Paul Rodgers.
The former Free frontman - best known for their 1970 worldwide hit 'All Right Now' - performed Queen's classic hits at London's Brixton Academy.
55-year-old Rodgers replaced the late Freddie Mercury - who tragically died of Aids in 1991 - in the band's new line-up.
He thrilled the crowd with blistering renditions of Queen favourites including 'We Will Rock You' and 'We Are The Champions' at the start of the band's current UK tour.
Earlier this month, it was revealed Robbie Williams came close to becoming the legendary group's new singer.
The pop heartthrob was in advanced talks with guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor to join the veteran rockers but eventually lost out to Rogers.
