If all you are doing is following someone else's rules , then you have not grown, you have obeyed.

ANY decision is, "What would love do now?" Love for yourself, and love for all others who are affected or involved. If you love another, you will not do anything that you believe could or would hurt that person. If there is a question or doubt, you will wait until you can get to clarity on the matter.

Hitler was not sent to you. Hitler was created by you. He arose out of you. Collective Consciousness, and couldn't have existed without it. The consciousness of separation, segregation, superiority - of "we" versus "they," of "us" and "them" - is what creates the Hitler experience. The consciousness of Divine brotherhood, of unity, of Oneness, of "ours" rather than "ours"/"mine", is what creates the Christ Experience.

Children who are allowed to develop their own critical thinking process are very much likely to abandon their parents morals, standards, and entire way of life. In order to protect your way of life , you have built an education system based upon the development in the child of memories, not abilities. Children are taught to remember facts and fictions - the fictions each society has set up about itself - rather than given the ability to discover and create their own truths.
